Music can have a powerful impact on the cognitive development of a young child and plays an important role in the development of higher level reasoning skills. Kindermusik for the Young Child is based on the latest research about early childhood development and provides a variety of musical experiences that enhance the overall development of children.
Between the ages of 5 through 7 years, children are ready to learn the fundamental musical concepts involved in instrument instruction, vocal study, and music composition in an encouraging and fun, yet structured environment. Kindermusik for the Young Child provides a group approach to music education which offers children a unique opportunity to develop a working knowledge of vocal development, rhythm, notation, musical symbols and simple pre-keyboard, string and woodwind instruments. The integration of a variety of movement activities is designed to complement musical learning and is based on a variety of approaches.
Parents: Music at Home cards are an essential element in Young Child. They provide you with exciting and interesting activities that the family can do together, which is critical to the learning process. Kindermusik insists on this element of family participation because it allows the family to take an active role in your child's learning, while reinforcing what your child learns in class each week. The variety of musical experiences and learning styles used in the Kindermusik program provide opportunities for every child to gain confidence and an appreciation of his or her own gifts. In the Kindermusik environment, children are positively affirmed and appreciated for their unique styles, personalities and abilities.
Materials: Throughout the Young Child program, you will build your own library of four CDs (over 300 tracks of professionally-recorded music,) a myriad of activities, four song books, and three high-quality instruments: the glockenspiel, the dulcimer, and the recorder. Children also receive their own carry bag, activity folders, stickers and Music at Home cards.
